This 13-day small group photography journey takes you through some of the most stunning and wildlife-rich regions of Uganda. From vast savannahs to lush rainforests, you'll have the opportunity to spend time with the world's remaining Great Apes — including Mountain Gorillas and chimpanzees — as well as elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, hippos, a variety of birdlife, and over 10 other primate species.

At the dusk of the safari, you will walk the wild side of life in the all-unique Lake Mburo National Park before returning to Entebbe.

A Professional Photography Field Guide will travel with you throughout the trip, offering tips to help you get the most out of every wildlife encounter. The itinerary is designed with slow travel in mind, allowing extra time at key sightings, community visits, and experiences without feeling rushed.

Your Journey Details

Day 1

Arrive Entebbe, Uganda

Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed from the aircraft by our representative, helped with immigration and luggage, before you meet your private guide for a transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

Shoebill Quest Mabamba

Mabamba Wetland

After breakfast, transfer to Mabamba Wetland for a canoe excursion through the papyrus channels in search of the Shoebill and other wetland birds. Return to Entebbe later in the day for a relaxed afternoon at your hotel.

Day 3

Transfer to Murchison Falls NP

Via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, drive to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for guided rhino tracking. Continue to the park, visit the Top of the Falls if time allows, then proceed to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at leisure.

Day 4

Morning Game Drive & Boat Cruise

Murchison Falls National Park

Begin the day with an early morning game drive in the northern sector, searching for lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, antelope, and abundant birdlife. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls, spotting hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and waterbirds.

Day 5

Transfer to Kibale National Park

Kibale Forest

Depart Murchison and drive southwest through Hoima and Fort Portal, passing rolling hills, tea estates, crater lakes, and views of the Rwenzori Mountains on clear days. Stop for lunch en route before continuing to Kibale Forest. Evening briefing for the next day's chimpanzee tracking.

Day 6

Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Swamp

Kibale National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before heading into Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking. Trek through the rainforest to observe and photograph these remarkable primates. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, known for its rich birdlife and several primate species.

Day 7

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP

Afternoon Boat Ride on Kazinga Channel

Your guide drives you south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through the scenic crater lakes region with views of rolling hills, tea plantations, and local villages. In the afternoon, head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise — an incredible opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalo, and a variety of birdlife along the water's edge.

Day 8

Morning & Evening Game Drives

Queen Elizabeth National Park — Kasenyi Plains

Head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, known for elephants, buffalo, antelope, and the possibility of lions or leopards. Your private guide will position you in the most wildlife-rich areas. Return to the lodge for a midday break, then enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner and overnight.

Day 9

Queen Elizabeth NP to Bwindi

Via Ishasha Sector

Following a relaxed breakfast, drive to Bwindi via the remote Ishasha Sector, with a chance to spot its famed tree-climbing lions in sycamore figs. Continue into the highland rainforest and arrive at your eco-lodge to settle in and prepare for tomorrow's gorilla trek — the cool mist and jungle sounds setting the scene.

Day 10

Gorilla Tracking

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting out on your gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Hike through the rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family and spend a memorable hour observing them in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, visit the Pangolin Rehabilitation Center.

Day 11

Transfer to Lake Mburo NP

Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, depart for Lake Mburo National Park, enjoying scenic countryside and rolling hills along the way. Check in and enjoy lunch before some time to relax. In the evening, head out for a game drive in search of zebras, impalas, elands, topis, giraffes, and possibly leopards as the sun sets over the savannah.

Day 12

Morning Walking Safari

Lake Mburo National Park

After an early breakfast, set out on a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. Accompanied by a ranger, explore the bush on foot, observing wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, and antelope while learning about tracks, plants, and the park's ecosystems. Return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy a relaxed afternoon at leisure.

Day 13

Return to Entebbe & Departure

Entebbe International Airport

After breakfast, check out and begin the scenic drive back to Entebbe, passing rural villages, rolling hills, and roadside markets — a final glimpse into daily life across the country. Depending on your international flight, a lunch stop or short visit to a local craft market can be arranged. This marks the end of an unforgettable journey through Uganda, a land of wildlife, warm hospitality, and truly unique experiences.

Preparing for the Wild

What to Pack

Comfortable, casual wash-and-wear clothes are recommended. Muted colors are preferred for game viewing — khaki, green, beige, and neutral tones. Dark blue and black should be avoided as they attract Tsetse flies.

Game drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon, which can be quite cold, particularly in winter. Layering is essential.

For gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, pants should be tucked into socks and boots while trekking. Strong waterproof walking boots comfortable for steep hill terrain are essential.
